You have heard of a pick pocket, right? They reach into your back pocket or purse and take your wallet. Well moms beware, there is a new “pocket” in town, the stroller pocket! They search out moms who are NOT paying attention to what is easy to reach for on their stroller.
The stroller is like open luggage with a baby in it. In the front of the stroller a mom usually hangs a diaper bag. Well in Strollercize we do not hang heavy bags on our strollers cause it can cause the stroller to tip and you can stride out your legs. So our moms keep the bags down under in the basket. But sometimes moms put their phone and or wallet in a travel tray that can hang on the stroller. They turn their back and poof the “stroller pocket” takes your wallet and your phone!
So here is a story that was shared in a NYC Strollercize class that really got to me. One of my moms, who has now been with me five months, is fit and let me tell you, she looks like a giselle but do not mess with her. I will not mention her name as I protect my mommies but this story can happen to anyone. She is in a store on the upper west side and she is doing some lite shopping and reaches for some bread. Her back is turned from the stroller only seconds and when she turns she notices her diaper bag ( which is in the low compartment of the Bugaboo ) that the flap is open and her wallet is there but NOT her phone! At this time in the class, I am doing my Strollercize Instructor thing and I am listening to this story she is sharing with the other moms and my mouth is wide open with curiosity. I have to stop and do a “Mobile Station” cause the story was too much for me. I gave them a “Save The Family” (stroller exercise) and when the moms came back, I had my mom continue the story. I had to get the rest of the story. So this “Giselle” of a mom quickly sees a “stroller pocket” heading for the door with her phone in his hands. She reaches out with her slender buff arms and grabbed and screamed “give me my phone”! She snatched it out of his hands and he freaked and started to stutter! So, she got her phone, all is good and her son was safe cause you do not mess with his mommy. But just stop and think what would you do if this happened to you?
We made a list at Margarita Moms as to what to do if someone tries to “pocket your stroller”. Would love to hear what you would do as a mom and some of you prevention tips.
Anyway, I was really proud of her and all I can say is “Beware of Mad Mom in “Giselle” Clothing!
